Graphite for Refractories

High thermal-shock resistance for steel, foundry, and high-temperature linings.

All Applications

Refractories are one of the largest industrial uses of natural flake graphite. Added to carbon-magnesite (MgO-C) bricks, alumina-graphite shapes, and monolithic refractories, graphite improves thermal-shock resistance, reduces slag wetting, and increases service life in demanding high-temperature environments.

Why Graphite

  • Excellent thermal conductivity reduces thermal-shock cracking
  • Low wettability by molten slag improves corrosion resistance
  • Higher flake carbon (FC) supports oxidation performance
  • Consistent mesh sizing for repeatable brick formulations

Typical Grades

Medium-to-large flake, higher carbon grades are commonly specified; final grade matched to your formulation.
